Stop motion videos with Lumix cameras
Creating stop motion videos can be a fun thing for you to do with your kids. (Okay I admit, I really enjoy making stop motion videos too!)
It’s easy to take a photo series with any camera. But, it used to be hard to deal with the individual photos. You’d need video editing software to put all those photos into a movie file.
Camera technology is always improving. If you have a newer Lumix camera, it’s really easy to set up, plus your final video file is created automatically.
It’s also possible to create stop motion videos with your iPhone or iPad too.
But, I prefer to use my Lumix camera as I have more control over the creative process, and the lens quality of my real camera is much better too, and that results in better images.
Watch the video below to see how to set up and make stop motion videos with your Lumix camera. In the video I’m using my small Lumix GM5.
If you can’t see the video above, you can watch it on YouTube here.
Now it’s up to you to let your creative juices flow!
Try a variety of subjects for your stop motion effects. I’ve seen really fun videos shot at busy intersections with pedestrians running around like ants. I find busier subjects a lot of fun to work with. I’ve never done a stop motion video at a skatepark, but I think it’s time I tried that!
Create an animated story. This is something that kids would have fun doing. They can use their toys.
For best results, use a tripod
Camera movement between scenes is okay, but for each segment of your story, it’s probably best to use a tripod. That way you avoid shaky cam and your video will be easier to watch.
