The most comfortable camera strap for hiking and birding
Today I'm out looking for the last migrating birds.
But, it's just an excuse to try out some new accessories I got from PGY Tech, the Camera Strap Pro and the Beetle Clip V2, which I use to for my action camera so I can give you some cool point of view shots when I'm out shooting birds.
Watch the video below to see me using this strap while out birding.
Struggling with gear is frustrating and good accessories take away that frustration.
I love accessories and PGYTECH has lots of practical and well-designed accessories. I just love the products from this company. (I have a coupon code for 10% off at the end of this post, so don’t forget to use it.)
Accessories make your photography more streamlined, easier to use, and a lot more fun, too.
Now, this camera strap was a bit confusing for me at first because it has a lot of tech in it. But now that I've got it figured out, I love it.
It slides very smoothly, so when I'm walking along, I can easily bring it up to my eye to take a photo. With my other straps, they were attached at the sides of the camera like this. But this strap attaches to the bottom. It attaches to the tripod socket. And in the case of this 100 to 400mm lens, I have it attached to the tripod socket on the lens. And that's a huge advantage because I'm not putting all the weight of this heavy lens on the lens mount of the camera. So, when it's hanging, it's hanging really comfortably. And honestly, I barely feel it.
The strap is padded and it's quite wide at 2.5”. And you can see here that it's made out of suede and leather. It even smells good! I also love this green color, but it also comes in black. It's very easy to remove and reattach the camera to the strap with the spring loaded release.
This strap allows you to be comfortably hands-free without neck strain, even with heavier gear. And the underarm strap stops slippage of the main strap. So you don't have to worry about it falling off your shoulder. The plate is an Arca-Swiss style and you don't even need to remove these buttons, and it can go right onto a tripod that has an Arca-Swiss compatible head. And that's super handy. And this is very firmly attached.
This strap is designed for long walks. And, I love to do long walks, especially when I'm out birding.

The other accessory I got was this Beetle Clip V2 and it's really cool, too. It also has an Arca-Swiss compatible tripod plate. You can put a regular camera on this clip, but I like to use it for my action camera so that I I can take point of view shots when I'm out and about. And it securely clips in and it's locked. You just put it on your backpack strap wherever you like it and start walking around. And when you're ready, you can shoot.
Now, I have purchased cheaper backpack clips in the past, but they were really floppy. And this one's so secure. I feel much better using this clip. The clip I had in the past was a Velcro and it slid around and it wasn't secure at all.
If you need secure attachment for accessories, an action cam, or your regular camera, definitely check out the Beetle Clip.

Here's something to watch out for if you get the action camera quick release plate.
I lost this pin! But luckily there are two in the box.
I lost the pin that attaches the camera to the plate!
It happened while I was walking in the woods. There were a lot of leaves on the ground and I set my backpack down at one point and I think that's when the pin fell out. Now, it was my own fault because I did not attach the camera properly before leaving the house. Had I done that, I would have known that it was locked properly, but I was walking and I had my backpack on me and I was trying to attach the camera while moving around and I did not lock it properly. So, double check that your pin is locked. I learned a lesson the hard way, but luckily that the kit ships with two pins.
Here's some great news.
PGYTECH has given me a coupon code for 10% off.
